The Newman Selective Gifted Education Program caters for the gifted and highly capable learners at Good Samaritan Catholic College. Our school was targeted as one of the original schools within the Archdiocese of Sydney for participation in the Newman Selective Gifted Education Program in 2011.

The Newman Selective Gifted Education Program is an integrated approach to personalised learning at Good Samaritan that provides opportunities for differentiated learning experiences that enrich and extend our academically capable students. Student placement in the Newman Selective Gifted Education class is made on the basis of a range of data including external testing and primary school identification processes. Students in the Newman Selective Gifted Education class engage in differentiated learning through:

· independent approaches

· critical thinking

· inquiry based learning

· student voice

· flexible grouping
